Interest in and awareness of the therapeutic potential of psychedelics has increased significantly in recent years, shaped by expanded media coverage, discussion among prominent thought leaders and influencers, and widely shared personal narratives across books, podcasts, and documentary formats. However, studies show that basic psychedelic education remains low among health care professionals (HCPs).
While only a subset of clinicians will ultimately deliver psychedelic-assisted therapies, all providers in relevant fields must be prepared to engage in this topic responsibly. The newly envisioned Clinician Psychedelic Education Program (C‑PEP) will extend educational engagement to the current workforce, in close collaboration with academic and professional partners. Basic psychedelic education equips the health care workforce with appropriate foundational knowledge and ethical grounding.
By focusing on education rather than clinical training, this approach strengthens patient safety, supports health care system readiness, and ensures that the integration of psychedelic-assisted care (PAC) is thoughtful, accessible, and evidence-based.
C-PEP is part of the Psychedelic Education Partnership, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing access to evidence-based, ethically grounded education in psychedelic science and psychedelic-assisted care.
Program Vision
C-PEP is envisioned to provide foundational psychedelic education for practicing health care professionals through three core initiatives:
Psychedelic Educators Network
A curated network of vetted academic and clinical educators available as speakers for grand rounds, conferences, webinars, and institutional events.
Continuing Education Fund
Scholarship support to help clinicians access high-quality continuing education opportunities in psychedelic science and care.
Virtual Learning Portal
A centralized platform offering accessible, evidence-based information for health care professionals seeking foundational knowledge.
Evidence-Based Virtual Learning Portal
A centralized platform offering accessible, evidence-based information for health care professionals seeking foundational knowledge.
Educational resources and faculty expertise cultivated through the University Psychedelic Education Program (U-PEP) will inform C-PEP’s work, helping to ensure that clinicians are prepared to thoughtfully discuss PAC with patients, guide referrals, and responsibly engage in this emerging field.
